Wildland Fire Academy students and class of 2023 graduates assisted firefighters from the Inyo National Forest in containing a fire 10 miles east of June Lake near Pumice Mine Road on Saturday, July 15. Fire crews braved high temperatures and dry winds to contain the fire to one acre. “We should all be very proud of our students as they have proven to be on the road to selfless service, strong values and personal connections,” said Wildland Fire Academy Lead Instructor Lori Gilroy. “They have stepped out of their comfort zones with professionalism, dedication and excellent team work.”
