About Dual Enrollment

What is Dual Enrollment?

Dual Enrollment lets you take real college classes while you’re still in high school... FOR FREE! You'll earn both high school and college credit at the same time. It’s a great way to try college early, save money, explore careers and majors, and get a head start on your higher education journey.

LAUNCH 12 by 12

Through the Antelope Valley College Launch 12 by 12 Initiative, students are encouraged to complete at least 12 college credits by the end of 12th grade, the equivalent of just four college courses throughout high school. By taking only one Dual Enrollment course each year between 9th and 12th grade, students can begin building a strong foundation for their future before graduating high school.

Many Dual Enrollment courses provide the added benefit of earning both college credit and high school graduation credit, allowing students to make meaningful progress toward a career certificate, university transfer, or degree while still in high school.

Launch 12 by 12 is designed to help students build confidence, explore career pathways, save time and money, and begin seeing themselves as college students early in their educational journey. One course a year can create a lifetime of opportunity.

Why Choose Dual Enrollment?

Risk-Free Exploration

AVC Dual Enrollment is for students who know they are college-bound and for those still exploring what comes next. Whether you already feel confident or just need a little encouragement, Dual Enrollment gives you the opportunity to try college early in a supportive environment and discover what’s possible for your future.

Stronger Outcomes, Brighter Futures

Research continues to show that students who participate in Dual Enrollment are more likely to graduate high school, enroll in college, transfer to a university, and earn a college degree compared to students who do not participate. Starting college coursework early helps students build confidence, momentum, and a stronger pathway toward long-term academic and career success.

Did we say TOTALLY FREE?

Through Antelope Valley College Dual Enrollment, students can begin earning college credits at no cost to families, including tuition, books, and materials. Starting college early allows students to save thousands of dollars, reduce future student loan debt, graduate sooner, and gain the confidence and experience needed to successfully transition into higher education and career pathways.
