The Real Tea on Dual Enrollment ☕️
Free tuition. Free books. Free materials. Like seriously—FREE. This program was built for students like *you*, especially those who might not have thought college was possible right now. Instead of waiting, the State of California decided to bring college *to you*—while you’re still in high school!
You’ll take real college classes—on campus or online—with extra support to help you succeed. If you do well, research shows you’re more likely to stay in college later—and we’d love for you to continue that journey at Antelope Valley College.
✨ Reminder: It’s all FREE. Every single part. ✨
Both programs are amazing opportunities—but they serve slightly different goals. Dual Enrollment is for students taking college courses offered through their high school, while Special Admit allows students to take courses directly at the college campus outside the high school partnership.
Both students are special. Both paths are valuable. But they are *not* the same! Speak with your high school counselor or the AVC Dual Enrollment team to see which is right for you.
Any student enrolled at one of our partner high schools is eligible! If you transfer or move during the semester, you’ll just need to drop your class. Simple, easy, and flexible.
A GPA of 2.0 or higher is recommended. If your GPA is lower, talk with your high school counselor—they’ll help decide if Dual Enrollment is a good fit for you. (Math, English, or GPA-based courses can’t waive the requirement.)
Course options vary by high school. Check with your counselor for the current Dual Enrollment class list. You’ll find everything from English and Psychology to STEM and Art courses!
