Ms. Qiana Brown, Counselor
Ms. Brown is a proud alumnus of AVC. She has also worked at AVC since 2003. Ms. Brown started as a CalWORKS student worker and worked in various offices in Student Services. After much perseverance, she earned her Master of Science Degree in Psychology & now pursuing her Doctoral Degree and
fulfilled her dream of becoming an adjunct counselor.
Ms. Brown grew up in the Antelope Valley, and considers being part of the AVC family a blessing in her life. At AVC, she has worked with a large, diverse student population. Providing support in general counseling, AVC/CSULB Engineering Program, Rhetoric and Literacy Division, First Year Experience and SOAR High School guiding students towards their educational goals.
Ms. Brown was once herself part of the STAR Program and understands the benefits the program offers
its participants.
Ms. Brown’s favorite part about being a counselor is being able to give back to our community by encouraging and motivating students to pursue their educational goals.
Sara Stanton, Administrative Coordinator
I am Sara Stanton and I began working with STAR in September 2005. I have worked at Antelope Valley College since fall semester of 1998 in various departments of Student Services and hope that I can be a resource to students in the STAR program. As the youngest of eleven children and a first generation college student, I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and gaining insight from your experiences as well.
