publications and awards
Nine books, most recently South x South (winner of the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize, Ohio U Press, 2013); image consultant for the Norton Mix (WW Norton, 2012); twice won “Best Article” award from the journal inside english. I am a Research Fellow at the Center for Art + Environment, Nevada Museum of Art. I also have had three artist-in-residencies, grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation, and was a Fulbright Scholar in Papua New Guinea, working with issues of ethnopoetics and translation.
I have given readings or lectures at UCLA, Cambridge, and the University of Guadalajara. Recent articles include an exploration of birds of prey in Shakespeare (co-author, Dr. Rachel Jennings), “Keats, Derrida, and Extended Definitions of Student Success” (co-author, Nicelle Davis), and “The Hyphen is Dead; Long Live the Hyphen.” My most recent poetry publications were translations from Papua New Guinea. Manuscripts in progress include a flash fiction collection, a fiction and art collaboration with Christine Mugnolo, a chapter and map on trees for a Los Angeles atlas project, and two poetry manuscripts—one on all the moons of the Solar System and one on the Great Basin.
