teaching philosophy and campus service
My philosophy on academia is two-fold: we should all be working cooperatively and collaboratively on projects, fostering a community of learners, but within that spirit each individual is responsible to bring unique perspectives and individual contributions.
My contribution has been leadership, having served as Honors Program Coordinator for ten years, becoming an officer, both President and Vice Chair of Scholarships to Alpha Gamma Sigma Statewide Honor Society and regularly contributing conference presentations to national organizations such as the Conference for College Composition and Communication.
Currently I serve as Language Arts Senator and Officer-at-Large to the Academic Senate. I teach with the same philosophy: every student brings unique talents and perspectives to the classroom and our presentations, papers and activities in the classroom, will foster and take advantage of these talents, forming leadership potential.
